Congratulates
Harvey Price

Mr.
Harvey Price
Harvey Price, an independent consultant to hospitals, lives in Boca Raton, Florida. For the last 29 years he has worked with many hospitals east of the Mississippi; and in that role has been coming to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah every month for the past 16 years. When the hospitals merged he became a consultant to the St. Joseph’s /Candler Health System. Harvey told me he was aware of
INTERxVENT from its inception. He meets continually with CEO, Mr.Paul Hinchey, and other key staff members at St.Joseph’s/ Candler Health System. He said “The board members were so proud of having Dr. Gordon associated with the hospital that you could not escape knowing about
INTERxVENT.”
Harvey is 6 ft. 3-1/2 inches tall and for a good part of his life weighed 175 pounds. According to Harvey, in the last 25 years his metabolism has changed causing him to gain weight. Finally he decided to do something about his weight. In January 2000 he was encouraged by Mr. Hinchey to join
INTERxVENT. He now sees Chris Lotter, his MENTOR, once a month, and has had several telephone mentoring sessions.
Harvey thoroughly enjoys the interaction with his MENTOR.
Harvey’s three-month evaluation showed that he had achieved excellent results. His systolic blood pressure had decreased from 161 mmHg to 140 mmHg and his diastolic blood pressure had decreased from 108 mmHg to 89 mmHg. His weight had dropped 22 pounds; he had lost four and a half inches in his waist circumference and three and a half inches in his hip circumference.
His work requires that he travel to different states. He is constantly catching planes or driving in the heartland of the country. I asked Harvey how he managed to achieve such good results despite having to travel so much. This seems to be the time that many of our members who travel frequently get “off track.” He replied, “You just have to stop making excuses and learn to plan ahead.” There are times when he is two and a half-hours away from his destination with nowhere to eat but convenience stores that sell hamburgers and greasy French fries. Before Harvey leaves a metropolitan area he scouts around and finds a supermarket where he can buy fresh fruit and other healthy snacks that he can eat in the car.
He said that most of his exercise is done by running to catch planes. However, he does try to do at least 10 to 15 minutes of exercise every morning. Chris suggested that since Harvey is in hospitals all day attending meetings, he should do things like using the steps instead of taking the elevator. Using the steps is a great way to get fit.
Harvey, a prominent health consultant, says, “In the 20th century we concentrated on trying to make sick people well. However in the 21st century the medical profession will concentrate on trying to prevent healthy people developing chronic illnesses.
INTERxVENT provides a simple straightforward lifestyle change program that will help you prevent a heart attack, stroke and other chronic diseases, and optimize your overall health and fitness. If you modify your lifestyle using the approaches recommended by
INTERxVENT, you are most likely to stick with the changes for the rest of your life.”
