INTERXVENTUSA  Congratulates Quincy Hunter

Mr. Quincy Hunter

Quincy Hunter works as a truck driver for Chatham Steel. He is married to a wonderful wife, Barbara, and has three children. Quincy Hunter is a remarkable person and an inspiration to all of us.

In 1990 he was diagnosed with throat cancer. Surgery was performed and his voice box was removed. Quincy had to learn to speak with a voice vibrator. Amazingly, he conquered the cancer and returned to work.

Two years ago, driving on his normal route he was summoned to call his home. Stopping the truck to call his wife he walked to the telephone and suddenly collapsed from a stroke that affected his left leg.

Others may have been stunned by a second major catastrophe, but nothing can get this man down. Quincy feels sure that had Barbara not called him, he would have wrecked the truck and killed himself. Very fortunately, he recovered the use of his leg and was able to return to work. Quincy was told by his doctor to watch his high blood pressure very carefully.

At this time he was invited by the management of Chatham Steel to attend a breakfast for the truck drivers at Candler Hospital. At this meeting he listened to Dr. Gordon, the founder of INTERxVENT, talk about the INTERxVENT program. Quincy listened and decided he was going to join the program.

Quincy joined the program and committed to make a real effort to improve his health.

He listened carefully to the educational audiotapes and the advice of his MENTORS. Quincy took the educational kits home for his wife to read. Barbara played her part and read the kits. She changed her supermarket list to include lots of healthy fruits and vegetables. Barbara also learned to cut down on fried food and substitute healthier meals. Quincy was soon eating healthier food at home and he learned to eat salads and fruit when he was out on the road. To quote Quincy “I no longer eat hamburgers and all that stuff. I would rather eat a banana!” Quincy, who now looks ten years younger than his age, has a twinkle in his eyes when he says that on a very hot day he allows himself a special treat in the form of a very small ice cream.

He exercises by walking 30 minutes every morning and rides his bicycle whenever he is able to. He has greatly reduced his blood pressure and his doctor is happy with his improvement. Quincy says:
“Thanks to INTERxVENT, the good Lord is keeping me around.”

Quincy is very grateful to the management of Chatham Steel for offering him the opportunity to join INTERxVENT. He says that Chatham Steel Management has done their work force a great service by introducing them to INTERxVENT.
