SAMPLE EDUCATIONAL MODULES

INTERXVENT educational kits and audio CDs help you learn the skills to improve your lifestyle and health.  Educational kits are interactive, requiring participants to apply the information and skills introduced in the kit in their daily life.  Each kit addresses three or four specific skills.  Opportunities are provided for participants to assess benefits and risks, set goals, develop plans, maintain logs, and check for mastery of key concepts.

Physical Activity and Exercise Kits: We will prescribe an individualized exercise program that should be safe and effective for you.  You will learn to use the INTERXVENT Exercise Diary to record your exercise.  Our INTERXVENT Points System provides an objective measure of the exercise you do.  Strength training and stretching programs are also included for a totally balanced fitness program.

Nutrition and Weight Management Kits: We will prescribe a meal plan to help you achieve a healthier weight if you need to lose weight.  If weight loss is not a major goal for you, your meal plan will help maintain your healthy weight.  A daily target fat gram goal will help you control the fat and calories you eat.  You will learn to use the INTERXVENT Food Diary to select healthy foods and monitor what and how much you eat, whether you prepare your meals at home or eat out.

Stress Management Kits: Our stress management techniques help you learn how to cope with everyday stressful situations. You'll learn to avoid or alter stressful situations when possible.  If it is not possible to avoid or alter, you can learn to adapt and cope.  Not all stress is bad.  You need some stress in your life to get out of bed every morning and function at your very best.

Health Promotion and Prevention Kits: These topics help you reduce your risk factors for cardiovascular and other chronic diseases. We can help you quit smoking, control your blood pressure, and reduce your cholesterol and triglycerides.  If you are at risk for stroke, we can help lower your risk and prevent a stroke in the future. 

Heartwise Recipes: We have developed healthy recipes for you to use.  You will also learn how to modify your favorite recipes to make them healthier.  You'll find that healthy foods can taste great.
